Akkon

Although 41% oxygen sounds like a lot it isn't. On a world where the air pressure is only half that of Earth it supports life well.
And boy what life! This small but fertile planet has given rise to several sentient species along with three times that that are almost sentient. Not to mention all the ones that aren't.

Akkon is a dry planet, almost 50% land mass covered by many deserts. The oceans of Akkon are only slightly salty and support several of the sentients found. Those areas not covered by water or ocean are usually dense rain forests. The races of Akkon have learned not to destroy nature and have found ways to trive without destroying vast tracks of land. Desert dwellers burrow deep into the ground, living in the cooler subsurface ares. Those in the forest have built their cities amongst the trees, traveling via suspended rails between cities leaving the forest floor to flourish. Those in the oceans tend to build upon underground cliffs where life is rare and easily built around. Very long days and seasons life on Akkon runs at a leisurely pace.

The Hoggort are a short bipedal race that tend to grow long hair on their heads and face to protect themselves from the heat and dust of the desert. They are diggers too, dwelling deep withing the planet below the shifting sands in great cities. They get to the surface though tunnels dug though and mountains that may have pushed though the sands. They have a fondness for heavy metals and try to collect them whenever they have a chance. 1m-1.5m tall

The Backtrian are suface dwellers that only go under the sand if there are storms blowing. Quadrupedal with large feet and strong backs they are able to grasp and manipulate objects with tentacle like feelers located wither side of their mouth. They look similar to a camel but with shorter necks and no humps. They act as traders between the Hoggart and other species. 2m tall at their back, 2.5m to the top of the head.

The Fealions love the trees, they live high up in the branches in cities built between the giant trees of the equator. Tall skinny and pale, they resemble humans some but more fine featured. 1.75-2.2m tall

The Aslongoid is an insectoid race. Rare but not unheard of, they are quadrupeds with two arms. Heads resemble a praying mantis but with more complex eyes. 1.5-1.75m tall

The Junmp live at the surface of the ocean, sometimes diving down deep so they can jump above the surface for a look around. They resemble a Man o' War with a giant gasbag on top but have more of an octopus like body floating beneath with twelve tentacles reaching 3m down into the waters. Some have been known to be able to expand their gasbag to tremendous proportions and fill them with hydrogen gas, thus lifting them above the water for a time. This is detrimental as prolonged exposure to air will dry out their skin causing severe or fatal fluid loss.

The Suprablonk are probably the worse tempered and most warlike of the sentient races. Long sleek bodies reaching 4m in length they are undoubtedly the largest of the sentients on Akkon. A cross between a great white shark, a hammer head shark and a humpback whale with some crab like pincers attached they look worse then they are.
