Lord of the Rings

I have recently started reading the first part of Lord of the Rings. It's amazing and I've seen the films but do people class it as sci-fi or fantasy or both? What are your opinions on it, amazing or terrible?

Lord of the Rings is a classic.

And it's fantasy. How could it possibly be sci-fi?

never read the book, never seen the films, but from what i do know is that it definitely is fantasy. the only time there is some crossover is when there is both tech and fantasy elements present.
