The principal components of this star system are the stars 'VEE281.A' and 'VEE281.B' that dominate it gravitationally. 'VEE281.A' is a red supergiant class star that contains about 87% of the system's known mass, 'VEE281.B' is a red giant class star that contains about 12% of the system's known mass.

System 'VEE281' is located more than 1874 lightyears from the center of the galaxy.
