Rubicon Prime is a Neutron star (Class N3a) that was first mapped in 2410 AD by the Terran Colonial Service. The planets were clearly unsuitable for colonization, as the whole system was an unsual maelstrom of EM and gamma radiation that made closer inspection impossible. It was belived the neutron star had tw0 planetary bodies. Occasional short lived gravimetric disturbance and tachyon emissions were noted from the system. It wasn't till 600 years later that one of these was revealed to be a red dwarf, named Rubicon Beta and the other, a very odd planet named Griffin, that had a habitable zone. It was only when a Claim of Posession was made, that it was found to be inhabited. A Terran technoclan, House Euphrates, had apparently occupied the planet for some hundreds of years as their claim was based on more than 100 years of continuous occupation. How they discovered it in the first place is unknown and how they can travel safely in and out is also unknown.


The nearest system is QCB668 a binary red giant system 32 LY away. The nearest system with planets is QCB660, a red dwarf star with 5 planets 35 LY distant. You will have noticed this region is mainly red dwarf or red giant stars. Rubicon Prime is close to the galactic core, which is around 600 LY away. Terra is more than 2000 LY away.

Getting There

Rubicon Prime is well away from commercial star lanes. Even if you could get there, currently there is no known way to safely enter the system. The only option is to contact a member of House Euphrates.

Where to Stay

The only habitable area in the Rubicon Prime system is located on the planet Griffin.


RubiconBeta is a small terrestrial planet, on an orbit about 29371*106 km from its star. Its' radius is 4089 km, its' mass is 546. One year on RubiconBeta lasts 100 earth days, one day on RubiconBeta lasts 16 earth hours. Its' average surface temperature is 1504, and it has 1 moons.

Overview of the Rubicon System:

Rubicon is a very unusual system, which for centuries was thought to consist of a neutron star (Rubicon Prime), also known as the 'Dark Sun', and 2 planets.

The system is enveloped in a dense electromagnetic field that blocks sensors and causes equipment to malfunction. Within the system fluctuating gravitational anomalies have also been detected, the cause of which wass unknown. In addition there are periodic bursts of gamma radiation and neutrinos, which are believed to come from the neutron star.

The system was first mapped in 2410 AD by the Terran Colonial Service. The planets were clearly unsuitable for colonization, indeed the whole system was an unsual maelstrom of EM and gamma radiation that made close inspection impossible. The system was of no interest for colonization and was not thought of for centuuries.

In 2703 AD a visit was made by Capt. W. H. Mordern in the SS Intrepid. Nearly all that we know about the system comes from that expedition. The ship and all her crew was tragically lost while investigating the system. It is unknown exactly what circumstances led to the ships destruction, however it is believed, at least in part to be due to the EM +/- gamma radiation storms. A follow up visit in 2780 by the great Algassian explorer Lor K'nath nearly ended in tragedy, and since then the system has been put on the Total Restricted List (Permit 234-371261373) by the GalNav Prime.

Lor K'nath proved the one of the objects thought to be a planet, Rubicon Beta, was actually a red dwarf.

One planet, Griffin, orbits the neutron star at an average distance of 2.5 x 106 km. (surface temp of Neutron star ~ 2700 K, habitable zone 1.5 to 7 x 106 kms) Orbit is synchronized so one face always faces the Dark Sun (fire) and the other away (ice).


Griffin is a medium gas giant, on an orbit about 639176*106 km from its star. Its' radius is 29482 km, its' mass is 205003. One year on Griffin lasts 27 earth years, one day on Griffin lasts 2 earth hours. Its' average surface temperature is 1522, and it has 88 moons. planetary image


The above information is incorrect. Griffin is indeed a very strange planet, so strange that many now consider it artificial.

It was data sent back from the SS Intepid shortly before it's demise that triggered more reserch into this system that ultimately resulted in the discovery that the other planet, now called Rubicon Beta because it was actually a very smal Red Dwarf. The data also hinted at the extraordinary nature of Griffin.

Griffin is actually tidally locked to its star and that the surface that faced the star was 'hotter than hell' as it was bombarded with immense radiation from Rubicon Prime. There was evidence that the hot face of the planet was perpetually molten, all the way to the core. More surprising was the discovery of a sea, and what appeared to be continents. One area appeared to be inhabitable.

Griffin was also found to be surrounded by a gaggle of moons, more than 80 infact.

It wasn't until 3010 AD that it was confirmed that Griffin was in parts habitable. Shortly after came the revelation that Griffin was currently occupied, by a technoclan, House Euphrates.
