Ocan

Roughly three and a half thousand years ago Ocan was discovered by the Alkani, natives of Alka the eighth moon of Risi. Two thousand years ago the first Ano, Alkani colony ship, reached the first planet of the system and began construction of an orbital mega-structure, a model know to humans as an O'Neill cylinder. The structure operated as a research station for the Alkani. Many of the researchers that inhabit the station call it the 'Staff.' The 'golden objective' of the 'Staff' is to study Ocan and determine if the world is a prospective target for Alkaforming, their term for terraforming.
About one thousand eight hundred years ago, shortly after a breakthrough in Alkani research, the world was deemed a target for Alkaformation. The world was warmed to a more Alka-like temperature and the atmosphere was altered to hold a higher proportion of oxygen then it normally did. The full process toke the better part of two hundred years but the first Alkani, the descendents of the original 'Staff' personnel, set foot on the world. Ocan was turned from a cold, dead world into a lush a fertile planet by the careful hand of the Alkani. In less than a century the world was transformed into a beautiful combination of forest, plain and metropolis. Many began to call the planet Mehen, in honor of their goddess of fertility as Ocan had become the most fertile of all the Alaformed worlds in the Risi star system. The current population of the world is, roughly, 8.63 million.
